MEET MDUDUZI DESIGN D.R.G
Doctor Mduduzi Gininda, 33 and Henry Mkhabela, 28 were both born and bred in Mpumalanga. Known to their friends as Docky docky and Taillerman, they are both fashion designers, inspired by life changes and the lack of job opportunities in their area. Today, they work together out of their workshop in Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre working on contemporary African men and women’s clothing. They both dislike rude people and love junk food and their big goal is to take their business international. We chat to them together.
Hard parts and easy parts about having your own business? The hardest thing is to put your brand out there and the easy part is having good people around you.
How did you move into the fashion industry? We both have a love for fashion and needed to put food on the table from a young age. Creating clothing helped us do that. Do you keep up with trends? We do, because it is good for our business.
What makes you stand out? Our good quality products make us unique. And our African flair.
Tell us something no one else knows. We started our business in a friend’s late mother’s little back yard. Name one style that will never go out of fashion. One thing we know for sure is that a traditional African outfit will never go out of fashion. Clothing that fits beautifully also stands out.
